about

Winchester 7: Working out of Sanctuary Studio, the band and I began to develop a tune that started with a few chords and a slide.

When we took a break or a member or two weren't needed for the recording session, we noticed the frequency with which we casually reached for our smart phones or raised a technology-related topic of conversation.

The discussion, of course, soon lead to our poking fun at each other; more than one of us getting a bit defensive; and all, ultimately, arriving at a decision to finish this song loosely around the topic of living in a connected world.

In the end, we scheduled a group camping trip to Great Smoky Mountains National Park to see if we can truly "unplug our minds" for a few days.

lyrics

Gonna unplug my mind and be all right
Too much noise works it overtime

Now, you can't believe everything you read
Not every position is guaranteed
Impassioned words plead for your soul
but, them cries of conspiracy are getting old

Well, you can't believe everything you hear
or live your life in constant fear
Round the world a whisper sounds louder than a gun
but, what's true for many is wrong to some

Gonna unplug my mind and be just fine
take a break from it all and sleep through the night

And maybe in my dreams
I'll find a little peace
'cause these days feel extreme
and it seems so out of reach

Gonna unplug my mind and be all right
Too much noise works it overtime

No, you can't believe everything you see
even when the pictures look like me
careful manipulations made to sway
So, you better think twice about what you say

And maybe in my dreams
I'll find a little peace
'cause these days it can seem...
so out of reach
