Winchester 7: We were taking a break from recording when the topic of aliens came up...as it sometimes does.

Phil told us about how there was a large radio astronomy telescope near his hometown that had always kept him watching out his window for little green men, though they never did come.

Jack then tells us a story about when he was having a bevvie at the Cavern Club in Liverpool when la starts in about how he'd seen aliens while in his sister's backyard. He then proceeds to hang onto our kid's shoulder with one hand, bevvy in the other, leg raised, and go cross-eyed serious. He says that he's transferring the alien energy that he had collected to Jack and tells him, knowingly, to bring it to the mate with the hurt knee.

Except Jack didn't have such a mate to give it to. So, he ordered another.

For my part, I had no similarly remarkable alien experience to share, so I offered to write us this song wherein we imagine that the radio astronomy telescope signal was understood as an invitation to a party.

All agreed, we were soon back to rocking.

lyrics

Calling Radio ASTRON
though far away
Signal acknowledged
coordinates displayed

If we leave in a hurry
we can make it on time
We'll bring the Saurian brandy
you bring the wine

Chorus:
We're on our way
-at warp speed-
we leave today
-message received-
and can not wait
-what we need-

A Dwingeloo party's
bound to get wild

All right!

Solo

Calling Radio ASTRON
can hear me ok?
We're on an interstellar journey
to the Milky Way

We'll be there by your morning
if we fly on through the night
wearing red carnations
to identify
