about

Winchester 7: This song is one of those which begins with a riff. A minor blues riff is a hard thing to stop playing, when it happens. So, given a beat, some bass, a dose of wah, and a bit of structure; we were soon recording the next track for our upcoming album, The Forgotten World.

Lyrics began to form around the phrases "play it where it lay" and "lose them blues", which were first developed during rehearsals, as they seemed to fit the rhythm and what, at the time, was vocalized melody. We then wrote the remainder of the song by connecting these two phrases, inspired by the idea of approaching difficult situations with aplomb while keeping cheer.

For the video, we thought that we would focus on our behind-the-scenes recording process while featuring the pinball machine that we play when on breaks.

We hope that you enjoy it!

lyrics

Play it where it lay
and send it back again
there's nothing they can say
that will change the end

And all their words may try to
bring you down
One can only pray
that they come round
It's the price we pay
to gain uncommon ground
some things that were lost
need not be found

Ooh, lose them blues
and all you can't use
Now, don't refuse
to lose them blues

Like a castle in the skies
you will rise, rise, rise
Shine like a crazy diamond
in disguise
Shed all of those sorrows
and dry your eyes
May all of your tomorrows
bring sweet surprise

And all their words may try to
bring you down, down, down
One can only pray
that they come round
It's the price we pay
to gain uncommon ground
some things that were lost
need not be found

Ooh, lose them blues
when you choose
there's nothing they can say
