about

Winchester 7: I had been playing around with an open C tuning; but, found that most of what I played sounded like 70s easy listening. So, I of course, thought...let's distort that.

With it sounding a little edgier, I remained lulled by its lazy Sunday afternoon pacing. Still, I expected that we could make something of it and began to write some lyrics about how my fortune was found in the eyes of my very own, Cherry Cheesecake.

Then, we got word that we were getting the opportunity to play in Vegas. With that in mind, and despite the richness of her eyes, I started thinking that a Vegas-sized poker jackpot wouldn't hurt any.

Too, what I had been writing, simply did not seem Vegas appropriate. Think, Viva Las Vegas if performed by BJ Thomas.

OK. It was time to shelve the working tune and reboot the effort. Now, if only we could come up with something more upbeat.

Fortunately, Phil came through with that bass guitar driven bit that he had been working on. With it and a back-beat held down by Jack, our Vegas flavored song began to come together.

We hope that you enjoy the result.

lyrics

Jackpot Baby
With you I am a winner
For the rest of our days
we'll dine on chicken dinner
Your elusive ways
are tamed by no beginner
but, the reward you pay
Causes them to linger

Everything about you is in spades
Baby, you and I will have it made
Flush with them royal serenades
Our kind of love it never fades

Jackpot Baby
Oh, you're the one
Let's get away from here and have some fun
Jackpot Baby
Stay by my side
With you right there, I know, I'll be lucky tonight

Jackpot Baby
Meet me down the river
I'm rags on my own
please save this sinner
I've been long alone
but, know you will deliver
we'll fill this happy home
and be all the richer

Jackpot Baby
Oh, our time has come
Let's go far away from here and have some fun
Jackpot Lady
Now, let's get wild
Play them suicide kings with a smile
Jackpot Baby
stay by my side
with you right there, I know, I'll be lucky tonight
I'll get lucky tonight
