Every Single Time

about

Winchester 7: I've wanted to try writing a bass guitar heavy song with a killer riff on top. But, Phil keeps promising to do it while pointing out that he did it once before while in a college band of his.

In the meanwhile, I came up with something on my own that the bass could accompany. It's not quite the way I imagined it, but we're pleased with the result.

Phil was also all to happy to get the opportunity to try something with a New Order feel. He loves Peter Hook.

From a songwriting perspective, I started with an iPhone recorded demo of the rhythm/lead ukulele part that we released separately as an instrumental.

Then, while recording our Bowie cover I played it through and recorded what would ultimately become the production rhythm/lead ukulele track.

We finished it off with some lyrics that I wrote off of a melody that I'd begun to hum in the shower.

I call it our Buddhist love song and think of it as a bit of a companion piece for Roll On.

lyrics

Some may come
and some may go
but, every single time make
whatever they would

and, baby, you and I may
do it again
and every single time say
this one's the end

Chorus:

and may you know right
from the start
you've got the key
to my heart
and every single time
I'll give it again

It may feel like it's
coming apart
but, you've got the key
to my heart
and every single time
I'll give it again

Bridge:

..and some times we will lack not
but, we'll still take our shots
we're not the only ones
who smile when they pray

Bridge 2:

..and some times we will have none
but, we'll still have our fun
we're not the only ones
who cry when they pray

Some may come
and some may go
but, every single time take
whatever they could

and, baby, you and I may
do it again
and every single time stay
to wait for the end

Chorus:

and may you know right
from the start
you've got the key
to my heart
and every single time
I'll give it again

It may feel like it's coming
apart
but, you've got the key
to my heart
and every single time
I'll give it again
